FREQUENT ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Flextern is a combination of ‘flexible lectern’. The purpose was to develop a lectern that is adjustable in height, enabling both tall and small people to deliver a speech, and suitable for people in a wheelchair. We believe that this name reflects what it does: a custom-made lectern!
Herjan Mennegat, Managing Director of Flextern came up with the idea for the Flextern Flextern.
The designers’ team d’Andrea&Evers have designed the Flextern.
The company Flextern devises and develops the lecterns together with renowned stylists and designers.
The first sketches of the Flextern were made in January 2007. In November 2007 the design was ready as a first draft in 3-D. The first prototype was ready in June 2008. In total it took some 18 months to create the lectern from the first concept to a ready-to-deliver product.
A variety of Flextern types will be produced in the future, featuring various designs.
First of all, the adjustable height of Flextern. Regardless whether a speaker is 1.60 metres or 2.10 metres, or in a wheelchair, the Flextern has a multipurpose function. Secondly, it is very light in weight, which makes it suitable for transportation. Third, the sideways placed notebook stand prevents having an object standing between the speaker and his audience. Last but not least, Flextern is equipped with LED-lighting, because of its brightness, life expectancy and the fact it is almost free of maintenance.
Flextern is equipped with a special plateau to place a notebook. This plateau can be placed underneath the reading table if it is not used.
The power supply entrance is located at the bottom of the Flextern, providing power for the entire Flextern. The reading table is equipped with a socket to connect the notebook to the power supply.
Against a fee, it is possible to adjust the Flextern in any colour.
The covering at the rear side of the Flextern can be custom made.
It is possible to build a Flextern with a wooden front cover, but in this case it is no longer flexible in height.
The front panel allows placing a logo sized A5, which is easy to affix..
The Flextern can be lowered to 75 centimetres, which enables people in a wheelchair to use the Flextern. Furthermore, the design has been made in such a way that a notebook can be used as well. The base of the Flextern fits between the wheels of a wheelchair.
One push on a button and the Flextern will go up or down automatically.
The Flextern is equipped to serve even a person standing 2.10 in size in a comfortable way.
If the Flextern is brought down to the lowest position, two wheels will appear that push up the Flextern a bit. After this the Flextern can be pulled towards you and transported easily from one place to another in a perfect balance.
The warranty period for the Flextern is three years.
The Flextern is supplied worldwide by the Lectern Specialist at lecternspecialist.eu, who holds the exclusive rights to the Flextern.
